On Location

Portable equipment has transformed the whole world into a recording studio.

An on-site recording studio can easily be set up in almost any location, to capture music, speeches, stories, choir groups, kapa haka performances, or anything really.

Often it is much easier for me to carry my recording system to a group’s own space than it is for them to lug all their gear to me.

When producing music, utilizing natural reverberant spaces, such as in caves, forests, or churches is a great way to add a unique flavour to a piece. Natural reverb can be infinitely more appealing than artificial digital reverb.

If you have a song/group you would love to record, but cannot travel easily, then I can come to you. Or if you would like to record in a special location, I would love to help.

I recently traveled around Australia gathering sounds. There are some great samples to pick up if you are patient, kookaburras having a rumble in the gum trees, Curlews screaming in the night, M.C’s lurking in dark city streets. These sounds will feature on a series of ‘Australia’ tracks, currently in production.
