Inspired by a gnarly boat trip aboard the rusty old ‘Olovaha’, between the Tongan islands of Tongatapu and Lifuka.This 12 hour journey, through a heavy Pacific ocean, in the darkness of night, is the only link to the mainland for most Tongans living in the northern island groups. The ship is old, rusty, on a permanent lean due to concrete in the hull filling holes, and literally falling apart as the raw Pacific batters her groaning hull.The trip is punctuated by sudden rushes of water swamping her, soaking everything and everybody aboard.
